PRISM Whistleblower. Edward Snowden interview

On 9 June 2013, journalists Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras made public the identity of Edward Snowden, an NSA contractor who several days previously had leaked documents on mass surveillance programmes classified as “top secret”. Snowden thus revealed the intromission of the US authorities into people’s private lives and the complicity of the major Internet companies. The leaks fired a debate on public liberties and had major repercussions on the relations between other countries and the United States. Snowden is still subject to a search and arrest warrant in the US for “espionage” and “theft of government documents”. At present, Snowden has been granted temporary asylum in Russia. This year, Poitras and Greenwald were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for their investigation.
